I LOVE YOU EARTH

Silk screen print on Coventry Rag 335gsm

18 x 24 Inches (46 X 61 cm)

Edition of 250 + 50 APs

Artist stamped and numbered

£360 (incl. VAT)

On this very special occasion of Serpentine’s 50th Anniversary and Earth Day on 22 April 2021, we are excited to announce the release of a new, artist stamped and numbered limited edition by Yoko Ono.

This work was originally conceived as a song on Ono's 1985 album Starpeace and later made into a standalone text piece and public artwork. It acts as a gentle provocation, setting up an active relationship between artist and viewer. I LOVE YOU EARTH is a reminder to those who see it to ask themselves: do I love the Earth? How am I expressing that love? Could I do more?

We hope I LOVE YOU EARTH encourages you to pause for a moment and reflect on your own feelings of responsibility to the ground beneath your feet, your home, garden, neighbourhood, region or even the planet.

If you order a framed Edition, please allow a 4-5 week turnaround for the bespoke frame to be made until your order is ready. This edition is framed with a split batten system.

Yoko Ono (b. 1933) is a Japanese multimedia artist, singer, songwriter, and peace activist. Her work also encompasses performance art and filmmaking. Ono grew up in Tokyo and moved to New York City in 1952 to join her family. She became involved with New York City's downtown artists scene in the early 1960s, which included the Fluxus group, and became well known in 1969 when she married English musician John Lennon of the Beatles.

Ono began a career in popular music in 1969, forming the Plastic Ono Band with Lennon and producing a number of avant-garde music albums in the 1970s. She achieved commercial and critical success in 1980 with the chart-topping album Double Fantasy, a collaboration with Lennon that was released three weeks before his murder, winning the Grammy Award for Album of the Year.
