Álvaro Siza
Álvaro Siza (b.1962, in Porto, Portugal) did an internship at the studio of the architect Eduardo Souto de Moura in 1992 and graduated in Architecture from the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto in 1994.
His first built work was Casa Vanzeller, in Afife, Portugal in 1992, from this date on he developed a wide range of other architectural projects, among which the following stand out: The Estado Novo Discotheque, in Matosinhos (1995); The Ballroom at Quinta do Eirado, S. Mamede Infesta, (1998); Casa Francisco Ramos Pinto in Francelos and Discoteca Mantra, in Matosinhos, both built in 2000. During this period he also participated in numerous International Exhibitions of Architecture, Painting, Furniture and Design. Of the Design objects, the following stand out: the Coffee Spoon xx/xy, in Silver; the Fractal Necklace; the Cruet and the Fez Lamp. Furniture: the CD Counter; the Straw Bench; the Foolish Maple; the Tableware Table and the Mies Chair in Cut.
