This new limited edition print is released on the occasion of Halsey’s first solo exhibition in the UK, emajendat (11 October 2024 – 2 March 2025). Halsey views her digital collages, which she began making while studying architecture, as blueprints for imagining new futures. Here she merges past, present and future, drawing on iconography connected to the African diaspora, Black and queer icons and the local streetscape, citing the visual and sonic layering associated with Funk music as an ongoing source of inspiration.

Lauren Halsey (b. 1987, Los Angeles, USA) has developed a distinct visual language deeply rooted in South Central Los Angeles where her family has lived for generations. Through maximalist installations incorporating objects and graphic ephemera gathered from the neighbourhood, Halsey archives and remixes the changing signs and symbols populating her environment as a celebration of the community’s enterprise and creative resistance to successive waves of gentrification
