Devoted to the exploration of visual culture and image production, Barbara Kruger (b. 1945, Newark, New Jersey, USA) is known for her work with imagery and words, frequently borrowing from the languages of advertising, graphic design, and magazines. Her practice explores complex mechanisms of power, gender, class, and capital. In her work, Kruger uses direct address, a form of communication popular in advertising, to speak to viewers about contemporary modes of consumption.

Throughout the years, Barbara Kruger presented her work across various mediums and forms, spatialising her ideas according to each context. Her work has been shown in galleries and museums, as well as installed and projected onto buildings, billboards, hoardings, cars, buses, and skate parks, and printed in newspapers. The artist has also designed t-shirts, sweatshirts, tote bags, mugs and other object of everyday use.

This limited edition is released on the occasion of the exhibition Barbara Kruger: Thinking of You. I Mean Me. I Mean You. at Serpentine. In Untitled (Mirror), 2024 the sentence typed in red sans serif font is a play on the exhibition’s title and offers a further variation of it: Thinking of You. I Mean Me. I Mean You.
